How Much Flooring Do I Need?
Measure the floor area, add a project-appropriate waste allowance, then divide by the coverage per pack if your flooring is sold in boxes or packs.

Measure the actual floor
Measure wall-to-wall floor dimensions rather than estimating from room labels. For irregular rooms, split the floor into rectangles, calculate each area and add them together.
Add waste separately
Waste covers cuts, offcuts and layout losses. The right allowance depends on room shape, product dimensions and installation pattern, so keep it visible rather than hiding it in the formula.
Convert area into packs
Use the coverage printed on the actual product pack. Divide the waste-adjusted area by that coverage and round the final pack quantity up.
