Tile Waste Allowance Explained
Keep the extra allowance separate from the measured surface so the assumption is visible and easy to change.
Formula
Final tile quantity = base tile quantity × (1 + waste rate)If a surface needs 100 tiles before waste, a 10% allowance produces 110 tiles.
Why waste varies
Tile size, diagonal or patterned layouts, room shape, borders, cuts and breakage can all change the extra material needed. Do not assume one percentage is correct for every project.
