Insulation Rolls vs Batts vs Boards
The main estimating difference is the purchase format. Rolls and batts are usually planned from package coverage, while rigid boards can also be checked from board face dimensions.
Rolls
Best estimated from net area, the manufacturer coverage per roll, an allowance for cuts and whole-roll rounding.
Batts
Batts are commonly sold in packs. Use the exact pack coverage or the number and dimensions of batts supplied by the manufacturer.
Boards
Rigid boards can be estimated from board length × width, then rounded to whole boards after applying project-specific waste.
